day 14 and homeward bound

London has never been so happy not even at the wedding which I attended last year when I viewed the scenes from my Boris bike .

It may have cost a couple of Billion but whow did it make a nation proud to be host to 10,000 athletes from the whole world . Plus the rest.

England came alive again connnected by a golden string A TORCH which visited every corner of our country and was excitedly welcomed  by all and carried by many for all.

GB showed its old tradition and powers of passed glory to all and then had a two  weeks of pleasure and excitement watching sport , roaring and even crying with and for the athletes

Funny how a national anthem can bring tears to ones eyes and a lump in the throat. That is not the reason for the tears of course but the last drop after all their efforts and achievements for their country.

Day 14 I did a whistle  stop tour spending one day along the Embankment promenading past all sorts of street food markets, looking at all the sights and the new Skyline of London. Remembering my young days with a flat in London at the age of 19 together with Hilary my Best school friend, we even did the Duke of Edinburg Award.

London was different then, now there is so much more. To us then it did not matter we where young and a bit crazy and lived near the Kings Road

Day 15

Lunch at an empty Smithfeild market the home of St Johns restauraunt and SOS well worth a visit, we had a simple Carlucci. Then to Stratford to have a quick look at the Olympic village from the third floor of John Lewis shop. Great idea but the rest of the world had the same idea .

Day 16

The pop concert in Hyde Park at the same time as the closing ceremony. What an experience . I loved it but was glad to get back to Hilarys put my feet up and have a glass of whiskey whilst seeing the Olympic Torch go out.

I write this from Ellens home in Den Haag I am home, lots of memories a wonderful time and a great trip with Annie . You could call it "England revisited"

Should you wish to go to suffolk Hilarys rental houses are to be found under mysuffolkholidaycottages.co.uk

The next trip will start in September, En France Magazine  is publishing the name of my reis blog in their next number so I will have to make a good job of it.

This blog was my first attempt I hope you enjoyed it. I enjoyed writing it . Bad grammar etc exc
