Oh to be in England

The 27 th July 2012will be embedded in my memory

LONDON DID IT what a show, from the feudal farming system to the industrial revolution, the Great Ormond street hospital , the overworked NHS , the inventor of the web www, the writers and musicians of modern England,  Mary Poppins , Harry Potter they where all there

2500 people giving up there spare time to act it all out

10,000 athletes from 240 countries.

The hill and finally the Torch ceremony , not to forget our Queen as an actrice . Brilliant 

The day began for me with a trip to London . The 9.18 from Thiele to Paddington.

After asking the beautifully dressed Olympic ambassadors the way we speede on the Bakerloo line to the Embankment. Then on the the clipper a big Hovecraft up to  London Bridge .

We knocked on the door of the Fishmongers Guild on London bridge The door was opened and we where let in by Lady Phillimore a great friend of Fayleens in whose driveway we are camping in Upper Woolhampton in Oxford.

We procceded through darkened rooms, (it is the summer recess). We entered a room where the walls where cladded with the Coats of Arms of many of the most influential families of England .

Picnic baskets where already being unpacked and tables laid. Hurry

Now Guess. The torch was coming . Unbelievable

The Gloriana came into view heralded by clapping and shouting from the spectators on London Bridge and by 9 ladies standing on the balcony of Fishermongers House with a glass of champagne in their hands .

Me little Miss Thompson from Manchester was there on this day the colombination of 7 years preparation by a nation, to entertain the athletes and nations of the world.

A day never to be forgotten indeed.
