A la maison or home sweet home
10 november 2012 - Amsterdam, Nederland
My friends
Arrived in Kapel Avezath after a good trip home, oh dear how full it is here. Stayed the night at friends see driveway and washing session, then to home. Took me 2 days to wash everything.
But first to a great party at fifeteen (jamie olivers place , great walking diner food and fantastic music and dancing which ~I adore even without men as partners , just everyone took to the floor.
I had expected my garden to be really into autumn, but not so, still a bunch of salad growing and some oost indies kers flowers, some herbs too , so a bit of foraging is possible .
So lovely to see all my friends , I was kept busy every night. Now alone for the first time. Ate great mussels and watched the great english bake off. Fantastic , Mary Berry is leading Lady she taught me once upon a time. She has what I need a toy boy to chop etc for me , really super I knew exactly what she was doing and what she was going to say before she said it.
Who knows maybe one day Jeannie Beddington and I will surpass the 2 fat ladies "OUR WAY". We would make a great double act.
Time flys when you are having fun. I sit in my cosy home , dreaming of nothing . However having browsed through a summer edition of Leven in Frankrijk I think back to my trip.
One thing I have learnt is how sweet home and hearth is. my star sign is Cancer, the most homemaker of all the star signs!! And I am double Cancer.
Gypsy woman has come home but Pattys Wagon will go on . The Camper is being repaired as a few things where not in order, like warm water , heating whilst driving and the tele and I never did get the fridge to work on Gas. though I reallywonder why I bothered about the tele . Life is so busy in a camper on the road!
My conclusion is I was not well enough prepared for my trip ,however fate took the upper hand and I had a most wonderful time.
I still have to tell you how to make your own bacon and I would love to carry on with my reislog.
So I will. No-one has to read it!!
I feel it will become my bundle which I wish to start writing next month, but don't quite know how to start.
The daily need to eat is now upon me, having snooped my way through life in La Cuisine Francaise and having lived on restjes ( leftovers)
I have decided to do a Nigel Slater, otherwise I may not eat well enough
Nigel Slater is my brother in my dreams. I love his programs and his way of talking and being one with food, not like some of the stiff chefs with stilted words UGH , b.v the master chefs.
I would really love to be with him in the kitchen. He wrote a book Eating for England a must for every lost englishman or woman. Stories of all our memory food from childhood. Like Annie and I he is a northener, they are the best.
He writes for the Observer and has many different programs. BBC is overflowing with them at the moment. They are trying to teach the English about there own food products, really fantastic. Nigel is on with simple things from his fridge and the local suppliers.
So my book is next to my stove too. I write what i eat
Any good ideas I will let you know.
I am so spoilt that I have hardly been home. Today I am going to market after fitness. Tonight I am cooking with a friend who has to learn how to eat differently to live .
So with a few tips from the Nederlandse heart foundation I have to change his life.
The Mediterrenean diet is the way of course. The way I love to eat and have eaten for years .
Today my breakfast is Sour bread toast with my own apricot jam.
Most days it can be yoghurt with nuts omega mix , berries dried cranberries and those small dried other berries a wonder middle. Is it now Gingo berries , cannot remember!!
But today Is Saturday isn't it ????
How come??????????? liefs
