A trip and a taste of Ireland

6 mei 2014 - Angle, Verenigd Koninkrijk

As we sail out of Pembroke harbour, on an Irish Ferry boat, my thoughts go back to other trips as a child, with heaving seas, rolling waves, my fathers hand holding me tight and boats crowded with people lying everywhere, not all sober, though maybe then I did not know about all those things.

my companion for this long awaited trip is my dear friend Fayleen, her daughter Claire is my Godchild, the finest gift I ever had from anyone.

We are sitting in the club lounge enjoying a snack, and perhaps a snooze, on our way to Rosslare on the south east point of Ireland.

Pattys wagon is safely tucked up below decks. We are on a trip to the south and west coast of Ireland just for the fun of it. The Burran is one of my reason for coming , to walk the barren hills and admire the spring flowers creeping out from underneath the stones, a visit to Darine Allen at Ballymaloe cooking school another. But infact just being in Ireland is enough for me.

My father who was Irish, asked me to drive him to Ireland for one last visit, in 1996, unfortunately he passed away before we could achieve this but I know he would have loved me doing this in my camper van,  like me he was always adventurous . I hope you will have time to enjoy our fun with us on this trip and hopefully some lovely Irish recipes. Now to enjoy the sun and the sea

Pat
